The resolution of complex problems that arise in current application fields, such as the classification of diseases through genomic studies or the improvement of urban mobility, requires a considerable computational effort.
The Algorithms and Computational Mathematics research unit is dedicated both to the modeling of complex systems and to the development of efficient algorithms for their resolution. This is mainly in the following areas: computational biology and bioinformatics, smart mobility, algorithms and data structures for wireless networks.
These lines of research more related to application aspects are accompanied by a line of basic research in the field of numerical linear algebra and activities of scientific dissemination.
